Gloria Guevara Alvarez
Doctoral Candidate

I am a PhD Candidate in the Food Policy and Applied Nutrition Program (FPAN) at the Tufts University Friedman School of Nutrition Science and Policy.

I started in January 2016. I came to Friedman after spending several years in the European Union working on economic development programs and working in Brazil, India, China and Russia.

I completed my M.P.P.A with a specialization in international organizations at Northwestern University in 2009. I received my B.A. in Latin American Studies from Wellesley College in 2001.

My training in policy and administration is an important foundation for my interest in food security policy and food and regional distribution systems.

My passion is the intersection of policy and economics and how to use interdisciplinary thinking to address complex problems underlying food insecurity like links between agriculture and nutrition.
