Lauren Burchfield
- Senior Research Administrator
Lauren joined Friedman in January, 2018 as a temp and became a permanent member of the Sponsored Research team that May. Lauren brings nearly 15 years of varied Sponsored Research experience to the team, having begun her career at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute working on the implementation of the PeopleSoft grant and financial accounting system. From that auspicious beginning, she was invited to become a Grants Management Specialist in the Division of Molecular and Cellular Oncology. Lauren later worked as Contracts and Subcontracts Team Lead for MGH in the Partners Healthcare central office, and most recently as Senior Research Administrator for the Broad Institute, where she served in a combined departmental and central office role, managing subcontracting as well as supporting a portfolio of PIs in the management of their research grants and contracts. Immediately prior to joining Friedman, Lauren took a sabbatical from the intense world of sponsored research, working as a project manager for a small local environmental non-profit specializing in the diversion of demolition waste from landfill by placing reusable materials back into the community.
Prior to her work in Research Administration, Lauren worked briefly in professional development at Ernst & Young, and for many years in financial services at some of the leading local and global firms.
Once considered bilingual in French, Lauren is losing her fluency and welcomes any opportunity to speak French so, if you are a French speaker (or not!), please stop by her office at Jaharis 233 for a chat.
