The Friedman School pursues cutting-edge research and education from cell to society, including in molecular nutrition, human metabolism, population studies, clinical trials, nutrition interventions and behavior change, communication, food systems and sustainability, global food insecurity, humanitarian crises, and food economics and policy.
Sonia is a postdoctoral fellow at the Friedman School of Nutrition Science and Policy at Tufts University. She is working with Dr. William Masters, Dr. Shibani Ghosh, and Dr. Patrick Webb at the Feed the Future Innovation Lab for Nutrition. Her interest lies at the intersection of economics, agriculture, and nutrition with the aim of finding sustainable solutions to global food security. One of her current projects is to develop an econometric model to measure resilience in populations of individuals. She has a MSc in Sustainable Food Systems from Wageningen University, a PhD in Finance from Goethe University in Frankfurt, and previously worked as an economist in the research division of the European Central Bank.
