Aviva Must is a nutritional epidemiologist and have worked in population-based obesity research since 1988. Her research seeks to understand the antecedents and consequences of obesity across the life-course, with a particular focus physical and psychosocial health consequences of obesity during the adolescent period. Another thread of her research is in the area of preventive interventions for childhood obesity in vulnerable populations, including race/ethnic minorities, immigrants, and individuals with developmental disabilities. Working with multidisciplinary teams, she has contributed to descriptive epidemiology for health promotion for children with autism and other developmental disabilities, using a range of approaches, including secondary data analysis, community participatory approaches, mixed methods and behavioral interventions. She serves as co-director of the Healthy Weight Research Network for Children with Autism Spectrum Disorders and Developmental Disabilities, funded by the Maternal and Child Health Bureau of HRSA, USDHHS and is a member of the Steering Committee for the Tufts Institute for Global Obesity Research.
