Pennington Biomedical Research Center in Baton Rouge Louisiana invites applicants for their NIH sponsored postdoctoral fellowship program entitled "Training in Botanical Approaches to Combat Metabolic Syndrome". Pennington Biomedical enjoys an international reputation for its research into obesity and related diseases such as type 2 diabetes. The Center is seeking MDs and PhDs with biomedical research experience who are interested in conducting basic animal and/or molecular research into mechanisms associated with weight gain and insulin insensitivity, and the use of botanical substances to attenuate these conditions. Evidence of motivation and skills in scientific writing such as publications and grant experience are highly desirable. The fellowships provide up to three years of funding (stipend, travel, research supplies, and benefits) and training aimed at preparing postdocs for an independent research career.
