The Associate Director - Advocacy coordinates GHAI efforts in providing advocacy assistance to countries pursuing policy change on public health issues, including cardiovascular health, road safety, or other issues. The Associate Director works with the GHAI Advocacy Team to develop an overall strategy for building locally-led policy advocacy campaigns. The Associate Director is responsible for coordinating team efforts to ensure the strategy is implemented effectively.
The Associate Director must have an understanding of and experience building in-country policy advocacy campaigns, including identifying local grantees to lead the efforts, assessing their capacity for advocacy and developing capacity building and training plans to address gaps, consulting with them to develop strategic campaign plans, and providing ongoing technical assistance in the execution of those plans, as well as evaluation of progress. Experience in global advocacy on cardiovascular health or road safety issues strongly preferred. The Associate Director works collaboratively with other GHAI team members (e.g., media, training, legal, grants) to bring the needed support to these efforts. This position is based in Washington, D.C.
