Open Rank – Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor
Contract, Tenure-Track or Tenured Research and Teaching Appointment
The Friedman School of Nutrition Science and Policy at Tufts University seeks candidates for multiple tenure-track or tenured faculty positions in Nutrition Data Science, at all levels. The rank will be determined by experience and accomplishments. Candidates must possess a doctoral degree in a relevant field, which may include computer sciences, statistics, epidemiology, or other related fields, and demonstrate the understanding of nutrition and public health sciences. The Friedman School is actively growing and recruiting faculty in many multidisciplinary areas, including the present position; global burdens of nutrition-related chronic diseases; community interventions and behavior change; food policy/food marketing; food systems, sustainability, and climate change; and biostatistics.
Big Data and advanced analytics provide new dimensions and strategies to better understand the role of nutrition in a modern society, inform and monitor behavioral change, and to build an integrative inter-sectoral knowledge platform in nutrition science and policy. We seek applicants capable of conceptualizing and conducting research that explore the development and adaptation of computational methods and models for ‘big data’ in nutrition. This could include the development and applications of a wide range of technologies and research methods, simulations and computational modeling, and the development and utilization of large datasets. Timely monitoring and data gathering can be used to both measure and motivate behavior taking advantage of emerging mobile sensor-based technologies. These advances hold promise for the easy collection of enormous amounts of data that could be used to prevent and more effectively treat nutrition related conditions at both the individual and population level.
