Volunteer Opportunity: Food for Free

Come volunteer with Food For Free and help turn rescued food into meals for individuals facing food insecurity! Food For Free's Family Meals program turns donated, frozen prepared foods into individual heat-and-eat meals for individuals with limited access to cooking facilities. Suppling meals to local K-12 schools, communities colleges, and various other programs that work with homeless or food insecure individuals.  Volunteering takes place on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday in Harvard Square, from 8:45 a.m. until noon or 12:30 p.m., depending on how much food that is available each work day. Volunteering in the kitchen includes breaking down frozen bulk prepared food, filling meal trays, and sealing and labeling the meals. It is best if you enjoy working with your hands, are comfortable handling prepared foods, are comfortable standing for several hours at a time, and are an attentive and tidy person in the kitchen. If you are interested in helping out, please email Program Manager Fiona Crimmins.
