The Friedman School is delighted to announce the appointment of May May Leung, PhD, RDN as an Associate Professor and Chair of the Division of Nutrition Interventions, Communication, and Behavior Change. Dr. Leung is currently an Associate Professor of Nutrition at the Hunter College School of Urban Public Health, which is based within the City University of New York system. She is also the Research Director of the Hunter College New York City Food Policy Center. Her research focuses on the development and evaluation of innovative health communication and community-based interventions to reduce the risk of diet-related chronic diseases and promote health equity. She uses community-based participatory research methods, such as photovoice, to engage and empower members of underserved communities.
Dr. Leung received her Ph.D. in Nutrition, in the Division of Intervention and Policy at the University of North Carolina, Gillings School of Global Public Health. She received a Master of Science in Nutritional Sciences from the University of Massachusetts, School of Public Health.
