Friedman Dean Dariush Mozaffarian and and Fletcher Dean Emeritus James Stavridis co-author this opinion piece for The Hill, urging the U.S. government to strengthen its “soft power” within the healthcare system, as it has done in its military and national security sectors, by developing “a proactive, vigorous, coordinated and well-funded preventive and public health strategy and infrastructure to keep our nation healthy and safe into the future.”

WIC Telehealth Innovations

The U.S. Department of Agriculture recently awarded Erin Hennessy, PhD, MPH, assistant professor at Tufts' Friedman School of Nutrition Science and Policy, a grant of $8.5 million to test and evaluate the use of telehealth innovations in delivery of USDA’s Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children (WIC).

Friedman School Dean Dariush Mozaffarian, and Former US Secretary of Agriculture Dan Glickman co-wrote an op-ed recently published in the New York Times. Addressing rising healthcare costs and an increase in cardiovascular disease in the US, they propose taking a long overdue look at America's dietary habits.
The op-ed also includes numerous nutrition policy proposals, and examples of recent successes.
