On Tuesday, November 2nd, at 10am EST, Friedman School Dean Dariush Mozaffarian will testify before the U.S. Senate Subcommittee on Food and Nutrition, Specialty Crops, Organics, and Research on the state of nutrition in America. The bipartisan bill in question would convene a White House conference on food, nutrition, hunger and health—the first such conference in over 50 years.
In 2019, the Friedman School, in partnership with the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, celebrated the 50th anniversary of the 1969 White House Conference on Food, Nutrition, and Health with an anniversary symposium.
Commissioned by President Richard Nixon and chaired by Dr. Jean Mayer, the 1969 conference sparked crucial progress in U.S. food and nutrition policy focused on hunger, changing the national landscape and conversation.
The Senate Subcommittee hearing will begin to livestream here at 10am EST on Tuesday, November 2nd.
