Friedman School Professor Will Masters accepted the Quality of Communication Award at the 2022 Agricultural and Applied Economics Association (AAEA) Annual Meeting, for the work of his Food Prices for Nutrition project at the Tufts University Friedman School of Nutrition Science and Policy.
The AAEA Quality of Communication award recognizes excellence in science-based outreach and engagement. The 2022 award for best work published in the previous year was awarded for the combination of a journal article, Cost and affordability of nutritious diets at retail prices: Evidence from 177 countries (Food Policy, 2021), with an outreach article entitled Three billion people cannot afford a healthy diet (The Conversation, 2021), and data visualizations at the Food Prices Data Explorer (at Our World in Data, 2021). The award was accepted by Will Masters, project director, on behalf of the co-authors who include Tufts graduate students (now alumni) Yan Bai and Robel Alemu, Tufts professor Steven Block, Food Prices for Nutrition project co-director Anna Herforth, IFPRI researcher Derek Headey, and Our World in Data researcher Hannah Ritchie.
Over 1,000 participated in the 2022 Agricultural and Applied Economics Association (AAEA) Annual Meeting which took place on July 31- August 2 at the Marriott Anaheim and virtually online. On Monday, August 1, 2022, AAEA Awarded six Fellows, one appreciation club, and over 30 awards at this year’s Awards & Fellows Recognition Ceremony.
