Key Ingredients: Food Science Insight will spotlight brief conversations with alumni of the Gerald J. and Dorothy R. Friedman School of Nutrition Science and Policy, detailing how they are making a real-world impact after their time at the Friedman School. Episodes will run about 25 minutes long and will be released each month during the Spring 2022 Semester.
The first episode, released on February 15th, features Dr. Lauren Au, NG13, assistant professor of nutrition at the University of California, Davis. Au discusses her WIC research, interventions for lifelong health, and changes she’s noticed with her WIC participants since the start of the pandemic. She graduated from the Friedman School in 2013.
The second episode, released on March 15th highlights the work of Dr. Corey O'Hara, F08, N08, NG19, Country Director in Nepal for International Development Enterprises, talks about his role as the Country Director of iDEand how COVID-19 is impacting food security.
The third episode, released on April 12th, features Dr. Tawanda Muzhingi, N08, NG14 Innovation Advisor with RTI Innovation Advisors discusses his background and research, talks about his work on creating sustainable food environments, and shares his hopes for a world where we all know a little more about nutrition.
The fourth installment released, on May 10, discusses the work of Dr. Reem Alsukait, MG14, NG19, Assistant Professor at King Saud University, and recipient of the 2020 Joan M. Bergstrom Student Award for Excellence in Global Nutrition describes what it's like to work at the intersection of nutritional studies and public policy in Saudi Arabia.
