As you know, the forecast calls for record-breaking heat this weekend, with temperatures soaring to 97 degrees. To preserve the safety of our graduates and their families, we are moving our Commencement Ceremony indoors to Cohen Auditorium, which is air conditioned and will help protect our graduates and guests from the ill effects of the heat.
Because of more limited seating, we ask you to consider the number of your guests who will attend the Cohen Auditorium ceremony. If you have a large party, we ask that some of your guests go to the overflow room at the Joyce Cummings Center (JCC), room 270, 177 College Avenue, which will be broadcasting a live telecast of the entire Ceremony.
In Cohen Auditorium as well as in JCC 270, masks will be required indoors for all attendees, including graduating students and guests. Masks may be removed for Commencement speakers and when graduates walk to the stage to receive their diplomas.
The Cocktail Reception immediately following our Ceremony is unchanged, and will be in the Remis Sculpture Court in the Aidekman Arts Complex. This is outdoors, and masks will be optional.
With the new venue in mind, please plan to arrive at Cohen Auditorium by 3:20pm (line up for graduates and faculty will begin at 3:40pm). Cohen Auditorium is located at 40 Talbot Avenue (in the same building as the Aidekman Arts Centre) on the Somerville/Medford Campus. http://campusmaps.tufts.edu/medford/ There will be a ceremony in the auditorium immediately preceding ours, and university personnel will be there to help facilitate the changeover. JCC 270 is located at 177 College Avenue.
