The Black Student Alliance presents a conversation with Tia Lyles-Williams, Founder and CEO of LucasPye Bio and HeLaPlex.
The conversation will focus on accelerating drug development and democratizing drug costs for underserved communities. Tia Lyles-Williams is the first African American woman founder and CEO of a biotech manufacturing company. After graduating from Howard University, Lyles-Williams embarked on a 20 year career in the biotech/biopharma industry. Throughout her science tenure she has worked for companies such as Amgen, Takeda, Lonza, and Jazz Pharmaceuticals before founding her own company in 2018. LucasPye BIO is the first biotech company with 85% of it's C-suite executive team seated by people of color. Tia will be discussing her journey in biotech/biopharma, pioneering a new era of equity in this sector, and her approach to building science-community relationships.
