This is just for a headcount, you may join the event without RSVPing by joining the events via Zoom links
We'll be scheduling morning and late afternoon discussion sessions for the book How to Be an Anti-Racist. Zoom details will be sent out to the Friedman Community via email.
Here are some details about how you can access the book and/or access the basic concepts introduced by the book.
How to Access/Purchase the Book
E-Book Outlets
If you would like alternatives to purchasing through Amazon, Kindle, and Audible, we’ve listed a few options below. Please note that we do not endorse any of these platforms specifically, they are just options not recommendations. Please investigate accessing/purchasing the book in whatever way makes the most sense for you:
- https://bookshop.org/ is an online book retailer that sends 10% of your purchase price to a crowdfunding pool for independent bookstores. It sells hardcovers and paperbacks. You can also use this tool to find a specific participating bookstore that you'd like to support with your purchase.
- https://www.indiebound.org/ (Indie bound) is another online bookseller that sends books directly from local bookstores.
- https://www.kobo.com/us/en/ebooks is an online e-book seller
- https://libro.fm/ is an e-audiobook seller that sends 15% of your purchase price to an independent bookstore of your choosing. It has an app to listen to audiobooks as well.
- Your local library may also have a hard copy or an e-book you may take out, please check your local library website or call them for more information.
Local Bookstores (for purchasing online, unsure of opening status of retail stores in and around Boston)
- https://frugalbookstore.net/ (as expected, they are pretty far behind in fulfilling orders, which is great for their business, but not amazing for getting people books asap!)
Tufts Library (you must be logged into the library system using your Tufts login to access the book, you cannot download it, and there are only 3 concurrent readers allowed in the book at one time)
School-provided copies
- We unfortunately cannot purchase books for every person at the school, but please contact Ellen-Marie Bransfield via email (Ellen-Marie.Bransfield@tufts.edu) if you're interested in getting access to a copy of the book. We can purchase a few copies for the school and work with you to make the reading possible.
Additional Resources
Here are some helpful extra resources to either substitute or augment the book discussion experience. This is by no means an exhaustive list, just a starting point for further exploration that includes a few links to easily accessible interviews and content.
