This workshop is designed to demonstrate the challenges of providing care to people with different ethnic, cultural, educational and socioeconomic backgrounds or those requiring accommodations. It is designed to help the audience recognize and understand the barriers that exist when providing care to culturally Deaf patients. It is also intended to provide strategies that will help overcome these barriers in order to deliver appropriate care to this population.
Dr. Jason Rotoli has been an educator in Deaf Healthcare since 2014. He has helped develop the curriculum for the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry Deaf Health Pathway, is the founder of the Deaf Undergraduate Shadowing Program at University of Rochester Medical Center, and has been invited as a lecturer and facilitator at various Deaf healthcare events.
