Oliver Chen, Ph.D., is a Principal Scientist at Biofortis, Mérieux NutriSciences, where he leads clinical trials aimed to test safety, tolerance, and functions of foods, nutraceuticals, and dietary ingredients. Dr. Chen has an extensive range of research experience in food and nutrition - from fundamental nutrient characterization and development of sophisticated analytic methodologies for disease/health markers to exploration of underlying mechanistic actions and to leading human trials providing defensible translational evidence, particularly in the area of gastrointestinal and cardiometabolic health and cognitive and exercise performance. Prior to joining Biofortis, Dr. Chen was an Interim Director of the Antioxidants Research Laboratory at the USDA Human Nutrition Research Center on Aging and an Associate Professor in the Friedman School of Nutrition Science and Policy at Tufts University. He has published more than 115 original scientific articles and reviews. He received his M.S. in Animal Nutrition from the Colorado State University and Ph.D. in Human Nutrition and Exercise from the Virginia Tech and did his postdoctoral research at Tufts University.
