Biography 

Lynne Ausman is the Saqr Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi Professor in International Nutrition, as well as a professor at the Friedman School and a scientist in the Cardiovascular Nutrition Laboratory at the HNRCA. Her general research focus has been on effects of dietary fat, cholesterol, and fiber on coronary artery disease and colon cancer; nutritional primatology.  Ausman's current research is specifically focused on the evaluation of glycemic index to assess diet-associated chronic disease risk; dietary fatty acids - metabolic behavior and CVD risk factors; and mechanisms of dietary regulation of cancer prevention.  A current project is with USAID Feed the Future Nutrition Innovation Laboratory.  She is working with a group of Friedman School collaborators to set up a post-secondary diploma program to provide coursework and 1200 hours of clinical internship to produce dietitians in Lilongwe, Malawi. 

Lynne is also the director of the Master of Nutrition Science and Policy degree program, a unique blended learning program offered here at Friedman.
