Biography
Dr. Daniele Lantagne is a Research Professor at the Feinstein International Center and in Civil and Environmental Engineering at Tufts University, where she specializes in water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) interventions to reduce the burden of infectious diseases in low‑resource and humanitarian emergency settings. Trained as an environmental engineer, she has spent more than two decades providing technical assistance and evaluating water treatment and public health programs in over 50 countries, combining laboratory research, field studies, and policy work to strengthen global outbreak response and safe water access.
Dr. Lantagne began working in water, sanitation, and hygiene to reduce the burden of infectious disease in 2000 with her Master's, then continued with teaching in Environmental Engineering at MIT before working at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention from 2003-2010. She completed her post-doctoral work at Harvard's Center for International Development from 2010-2012, and joined Tufts University in 2012. Daniele enjoys backcountry hiking, state highpointing (50 state completer!), rocket ashtanga yoga, cooking vegan foods, and raising her two children with her husband.
