Guilford College’s Department of Environmental and Sustainability Studies (ENSS) seeks applicants for a full-time tenure-track position beginning Fall 2021 in Sustainable Food Systems. This is an opportunity to grow a new and unique program, with an award-winning on-campus farm. This position is federally funded through the Title III Strengthening Institutions Program (SIP) grant.
We are looking for candidates who are excellent teachers with an interdisciplinary background and experience in engaged learning. A terminal degree is required; may be from a variety of disciplines including sociology, geography, political science, public policy, economics, and anthropology. The ideal candidate will connect scholarship with practice in food advocacy, food justice, food policy, or community-based food systems. Preference will be given to candidates who can also contribute to a related disciplinary or interdisciplinary program. The candidate will teach place-based experiential courses, courses in their area of specialization, and mentor interdisciplinary undergraduate research projects. Must be prepared to take on responsibilities for the administration of the program after the second year of appointment, and participate in faculty governance.
