Tenured Research and Teaching Appointment
The Friedman School of Nutrition Science and Policy at Tufts University seeks candidates for tenured faculty position at the rank of Associate or Full Professor and the Division of Nutrition Data Science Chair. The rank will be determined by experience and accomplishments. Candidates must possess a doctoral degree in a relevant field, which may include computer sciences, statistics, epidemiology, or other related fields, and demonstrate the leadership in nutrition and public health sciences. The Friedman School is actively growing and recruiting faculty in many multidisciplinary areas, including the present position; global burdens of nutrition-related chronic diseases; community interventions and behavior change; food policy/food marketing; food systems, sustainability, and climate change; and biostatistics.
Big Data and advanced analytics provide new dimensions and strategies to better understand the role of nutrition in a modern society, inform and monitor behavioral change, and to build an integrative inter-sectoral knowledge platform in nutrition science and policy. The Division of Nutrition Data Science aims to train the new cadre of researchers and practitioners capable to tackle emergent complex problems using novel information technologies. The Division Chair is responsible for planning, implementing, reviewing, and facilitating the growth of professional development, evaluation of faculty the educational programs within the Division, and actively promoting coordination and collaboration across divisions and Tufts schools. The successful candidate is expected to have strong interest and skills in faculty development and mentoring relating to research, teaching, and outreach; strong interest and skills in curriculum development and graduate training; excellent written and in-person leadership and communication skills; availability to faculty, students and staff, with flexibility to accommodate cyclic demands (such as faculty mentoring and evaluation, as well student admissions, recruiting, and advising).
