Trained by Lakshmi, Dr. Christina DiBona Pastan certified Kripalu yoga teacher and Director of Mind-Body Wellness at TUSDM will guide a 30 minute chair yoga practice that will include breathing exercises and seated yoga postures. This practice is suitable for all levels and deepens flexibility, increases range of motion and strengthens personal body awareness. Chair yoga has helped people with the symptoms of many chronic health issues including hypertension, anxiety, chronic fatigue, arthritis, multiple sclerosis, clinical depression and chronic pain. | Jaharis 156 |

We are human beings that more and more have become human doings. Meditation allows us to "just be" and get quiet within ourselves as well as cultivate the qualities self-awareness, non-judgement and self-compassion. All students, faculty, and staff of the Friedman School are invited and encouraged to participate in the walking group each week. The walking group meets every Friday at 12:00 pm in the lobby of the Jaharis Center, and the group walks through areas such as Boston Common, Boston Public Garden, and The Rose Kennedy Greenway. The route of the walk changes each week, and the walks last approximately 1 hour. Below are photos from past walks.

The following special walks are offered to the students, faculty, and staff of the Friedman School. Each special walk takes place annually, and all are part of the walking group walks that take place each Friday from 12:00 to 1:00 pm. We stop at the various historical sites located along the trails, and learn about the history and significance of each site.

Black Heritage Trail - In partnership with the Social Justice, Inclusion, and Diversity Committee, this walk takes place during Black History Month each February. The Black Heritage Trail explores the history of the African American community in Boston.

Irish Heritage Trail - This walk, which is comprised of 20 landmarks, takes place each March. Boston’s Irish Heritage Trail explores the history of Irish immigrants and their descendants.
Below is a photo of the James Michael Curley statues. James Michael Curley dominated local and state politics for half a century, serving as mayor for four terms, governor and congressman, and is one of the sites along Boston’s Irish Heritage Trail.
The Freedom Trail - This walk, which is comprised of 16 historical sites, takes place each October. The Freedom Trail explores 250 years of history through Boston's neighborhoods.

Coffee and tea are provided. Please note that, for the time being, these are now being held in a virtual format. These virtual socials are taking place via Zoom, every 2 weeks.
