Now in its sixth year, the NIFTI National Field School supports professional development and network building for Incubator Farm Project staff from across the country. The Field School is structured around interactive workshops, facilitated resource review sessions and regional networking and goal-setting opportunities, with ample time to connect with others working in your unique field. A farm tour of the Agriculture and Land Based Training Association will introduce you to the work of one of the oldest incubator projects in the United States.
Workshops, discussion sessions, and resource development will be focused on:
• Land Management
• Curriculum Design
• Evaluation
• Market Channel Development
• Incubators in Local/Regional Food Systems
• Staff Capacity
• Financial Literacy & Business Planning
• Working with Socially Disadvantaged Farmers
• Access to Land
• Cooperative Farming Models
• Recruiting Appropriate and Ready Applicants
• Communication/Conflict Resolution
• Supporting Farmer/Mentor Relationships
Collaboration with ISED Solutions will allow for the inclusion of workshops led by and designed for refugee serving incubator projects. A pre-conference for refugee serving projects will include sessions focused on resource sharing and network building.
In addition to session workshops and discussions, expect to hear stories from the field during our NIFTI Story Hour, and to circle up with other program staff during an evening bonfire.
A limited number of registration scholarships are available for this event. Please contact Brianna Bowman for more information.
