Career Panel Moderator: Johanna T. Dwyer, D.Sc., R.D.
Keynote Speaker. Paula Quatromoni, DSc, MS, RDDr. Quatromoni is an Assistant Professor of Nutrition at Boston University. She has faculty appointments in the Department of Health Sciences at Sargent College of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences and in the Departments of Epidemiology and Social & Behavioral Sciences at the Boston University School of Public Health. Dr. Quatromoni is the Principal Investigator on KidSTEPS, imove and CYCLE Kids research initiatives, and an investigator on the Framingham Study. She is a Registered Dietitian, a published author, and a member of the American Public Health Association, the American Dietetic Association, and the Massachusetts Dietetic Association. She serves as Media Spokesperson and Advocacy Captain for the American Heart Association's initiatives on childhood obesity. Her background in clinical nutrition includes expertise in cardiovascular nutrition, obesity, sports nutrition and eating disorders. She works in the community and in public schools on a variety of health promotion and wellness initiatives. Dr. Quatromoni was the 2007 recipient of the Whitney Powers Excellence in Teaching Award from Sargent College at Boston University.
Inger Hustrulid, RD LDN, ACSMInger Hustrulid is a leading expert on educating and motivating behavioral change in children on issues related to healthy eating and weight management. During her career as a pediatric and family dietitian, she has helped hundreds of children and their families in over two thousand counseling sessions to learn to eat more healthfully and to change their behaviors to adopt healthier eating habits. She is the founder and primary architect of Foundations Family Nutrition, a nutrition counseling and education center widely recognized in the Boston area with an emphasis on the nutrition needs of children and families, especially child weight management. Her programs for overweight children combine motivational interviewing principles with practical approaches to educating and motivating children that reflect an understanding of the specific psychological needs of overweight children, and have been developed and tested through extensive experience in her private practice.
In addition to her current position at Foundations, she is the President for the Massachusetts Dietetic Association. She is a Certified Personal Trainer by the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM). Ms. Hustrulid is the recipient of the Recognized Young Dietitian Award of the Year (2006).
Asha joined the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC) Transplant Center in 2005, after completing a dietetic internship at BIDMC. She works with surgical and medical teams to assess/evaluate and provide diet and/or nutrition support recommendations for pre and post liver, kidney and pancreas transplant patients as well as non-transplant hepato-biliary patients.
She is a registered dietitian, having completed a Didactic Program in Dietetics at Simmons College. She earned a Master of Science degree from the University of Northumbria, England, and a Bachelor of Science degree (Hons) in applied human nutrition, from Leeds Metropolitan University, England. She is also a certified nutrition support dietitian, qualified by the American Society of Parental and Enteral Nutrition (ASPEN).
Michael Leidig, RD, LDN, CPTMichael is a Registered Dietitian and Certified Personal Trainer specializing in weight management. He is the Associate Director of the PRIORITY adolescent weight management program at Tufts Medical Center/Floating Hospital for Children and the founder of Nutrition & Fitness Advisors—a nutrition and fitness consulting practice. Michael has worked in the child/adolescent and adult weight management fields since 2000 and has expertise in the design, management, and evaluation of clinical programs and research studies.
Jennifer Shea, MS, MPH, RDJennifer is the Wellness Coach for Shaw's Wellbeing program. She has a bachelor's degree in psychology from Boston University, a master's in nutrition from the Friedman School of Nutrition Science and Policy at Tufts University and a master's in public health from Tufts University School of Medicine. She is a registered dietitian and completed her dietetic internship through Simmons College. Jennifer has worked as a nutrition and fitness consultant, health educator, speaker, writer and nutrition counselor.
