Intermediate Biostatistics: Regression Methods

Course Details

Course Number
NUTR 323
Associated Faculty

Course Description

A variety of topics related to modeling continuous, binary, and survival time outcomes in terms of multiple risk factors are explored. Topics covered include the analysis of variance and covariance, linear regression, multiple linear regression, nonlinear regression, logistic regression, non parametric regression, and regression for survival times, including proportional hazard models. Emphasis is on the practical aspects of model construction, model checking, and model prediction. Applications and computer methods are stressed.
IMPORTANT TO NOTE: NUTR 0323 is cross-listed with PH 0206 only in the Fall semester so Friedman students may enroll via SIS (8 seats available). However, this course is not cross-listed in the Spring semester so Friedman students need to pursue enrollment in PH 0206 (Intermediate Statistics at Tufts Public Health) via the cross-registration process.

Prerequisite: PH 0205: Principles of Biostatistics with a B or better. Students who wish to use other statistics course as prerequisites please gather a syllabus of the said course and contact the instructor for consent before the end of the add/drop period.
The following courses are considered PH 0205 equivalent courses:
- CEE 194: Principles of Biostatistics
- NUTR 207: Statistical Methods for Nutrition Science and Policy AND NUTR 307: Regression Analysis for Nutrition  Policy (both courses need to be with a B minus or better as the prerequisites for NUTR 0323)
- NUTR 206: Biostatistics I AND NUTR 309: Statistical Methods for Nutrition Research II (both courses need to be with a B minus or better as the prerequisites for NUTR 0323)
