Degrees OfferedMaster of Nutrition Science and PolicyThe Master of Nutrition Science and Policy is offered by Tufts University. The degree has the same standing as all other degrees granted by the university. Tufts University is accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges, Inc. through its Commission on Institutions of Higher Education. Who is EligibleQualified applicants for this degree program will have successfully completed their bachelor's degree in an approved institution, with a minimum grade point average of 3.0 (out of a 4.0 equivalent) and have proven proficiency in the English language as measured by a minimum TOEFL score of 600 (paper based), 250 computer based, or 100 internet based or IELTS score of 6.5 or greater. They will also have prerequisites, including nutrition, biochemistry, biology or physiology, and a college level mathematics course. While filling out the application please note that on page 4, for the Degree dropdown, you will need to select Ras Al Khaimah Master in Nutrition Science and Policy. Pre-requisites For those students who meet admission standards, with the exception of missing a specific subject area, provisional admittance to the program may be considered on satisfactory completion of one or more courses in key domains, (general chemistry, biochemistry, nutrition) prior to the first residency period. Fulfilling this pre-requisite requirement will be facilitated by the School's offering of a graduate level course in introductory nutrition on-line. The School will also assist students by helping to identify alternatives in other required courses that if successfully completed will allow 'provisionally accepted' students to enter the program. The Friedman School on-line nutrition course will start January 1, each year. Access to the course will be provided once tuition payment is fulfilled. Admissions Timeline and Deadlines Applications will be reviewed as received and decisions will be made by June. Application deadline for this program is: April 30. Applicants will be notified of the action on their application by the admissions committee as soon as a decision has been made. CostThe cost of tuition for this program in 2010-2011 will be $26,725. In addition to the tuition, students will be responsible for (3) residency fees of no more than $4,500 for the three periods of approximately ten days each when they receive on-location instruction. The residency fee will cover costs that include: housing, most meals and local transportation. The residency fee may be less if lodging is not required.
