Prerequisites
Each program has unique prerequisites (as detailed below). Please refer to the individual program description for exact details.
- Food Policy and Applied Nutrition and Agriculture, Food and Environment require a college level course in biology and/or chemistry.
- Nutrition Communication requires a course in human physiology and biochemistry. Prior coursework in nutrition is not required although many applicants will have taken some nutrition courses.
- Biochemical and Molecular Nutrition and Nutritional Epidemiology require General Biology, General Chemistry (with lab) and Organic Chemistry I (with lab). Also, one or both of the following is required: Organic II (with lab) and Biochemistry. Applicants with a background in the social sciences who are interested in Nutritional Epidemiology should contact the Admissions Office for further information.
- The Coordinated Dietetic Internship / Masters Degree Program requires that the applicant has completed the American Dietetics Association Educational Prerequisites (Didactic Program).
- The Master of Arts in Humanitarian Assistance requires that applicants are midcareer professionals. Candidates must have significant field experience, have proven leadership qualities, and demonstrate proficiency in the English language.
- The Master of Nutrition Science and Policy requires that applicants have a proven proficiency in the English language as measured by a minimum TOEFL score of 600 (paper based), 250 computer based, or 100 internet based. They also must have taken nutrition, biochemistry, biology or physiology, and a college level mathematics course.
