Endowment, Scholarships & Special Funds
The Gerald J. and Dorothy R. Friedman School of Nutrition Science and Policy is grateful to the individuals and organizations who lend their support, and often their name, to an endowed fund. A gift to the endowment to establish a faculty chair, scholarship fund, center, or other targeted program is one of the most meaningful and lasting ways to support the nutrition school. Gifts to the endowment are permanent, providing a lasting tribute in honor of your beliefs and values. Tufts University's endowment funds are managed carefully for both income and growth, and provide the bedrock for continued excellence and long-term stability.
Endowed Scholarships
An endowed scholarship fund assists outstanding students who otherwise would have difficulty financing their education. Donors who endow scholarship funds believe in the educational mission of the nutrition school. Their aim is to help the school continue to educate future leaders in the health and nutrition field.
A named endowed Financial Aid Fund may be established with a minimum commitment of $50,000.
A named endowed Scholarship Fund may be established with a minimum commitment of $250,000.
Endowed Professorships
A gift to the endowment to establish a named faculty chair at the nutrition school perpetuates your philanthropy by creating a permanently-funded position, in your name or in honor or memory of someone else, which may be occupied in succession by leaders in the world of nutrition science and policy. These chairs sustain the high quality of teaching and research in designated academic disciplines. This is an extremely vital contribution to the school, and one that will be appreciated by generations of family members, Tufts students and faculty.
Donors may establish a named endowed Chair for an existing Professorship with a minimum commitment of $1.5 million.
Donors may establish a named endowed Chair for a newly created Professorship with a minimum commitment of $2.0 million.
Endowed Centers & Program Funds
Endowed support of a center of intellectual activity at the school provides dependable annual support for educational and research activities at the discretion of the center directors.
An endowed special purpose fund supports a specific area, such as human nutrition research, international internships, community outreach, and research prize awards — to name a few.
Donors may also establish endowed programs through a planned gift. For information on bequests and other ways of giving, please contact us.
