International Applicants

Tufts welcomes qualified applicants from all countries. In addition to meeting the standard admissions requirements, international students must:

  • satisfy the university that they have sufficient funds to meet the normal expenses of life at the university for the expected period of stay, or an agreed-upon part of it, including the cost of transportation back to their home.
  • satisfy the university that they have an adequate command of the English language by submitting TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) scores or other evidence of English proficiency. A minimum score of: 600 points on the paper-based exam, or 250 on the computer-based exam, or 100 on the internet-based exam is recommended on the TOEFL.
  • meet the health standards established by the university and provide adequate attested records of a physical examination and all required immunizations matriculation.
  • enroll in or waive (based on adequate coverage), one of the university's health insurance programs.

The International Center is located on the Medford campus and may be reached at 617-627-3458. This center provides services to international students, research scholars, and faculty in the areas of visa application, visa renewal and changes, and counseling for individuals and/or their supervisors in routine immigration matters.
